SUMMARY:EFCA/Card Check Meeting
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT?\nThe Employee Free Choice Act or "Card Check" is federal legislation that would change the process by which employees are unionized. Under Card Check\, employees will lose their right to cast a private ballot to decide whether to be represented by a union making their vote public to everyone. Employers\, on the other hand\, will face higher costs and may be forced to accept contract terms decided by an arbitrator. Card Check hurts employees\, employers and our economy. Organized labor is the only winner. The Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce will host a special meeting with guest speaker\, Peter Kirsanow\, who will be speaking out against The EFCA/Card Check legislation on Wednesday\, March 18 at 8 am at AI Root Company\, 623 W. Liberty in Medina. The meeting room is on the front of the building immediately west of the retail store\, parking is across the street. Peter Kirsanow is an employment lawyer and former member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and is presently serving on the US Civil Rights Commission.
